Lea Jacobs, American Film Historian

About Lea

I studied film at the University of California, Los Angeles and began my teaching career at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 1987, I took a post-doctoral fellowship at the Wisconsin Center for Film and Theatre Research for what was supposed to be a year’s stay. I have lived in Madison ever since, teaching and learning at the University of Wisconsin. View my cv.

This site documents my books and major articles grouped by subject, beginning with the most recent publications and current research on the director John Ford. The clips discussed in Film Rhythm After Sound may be found in the film rhythm section. Theatre to Cinema may be downloaded in its entirety from the theater and silent film section.
